The project is a stool called “Ciro”, an outcome of an experimentation with cast aluminum, wood and natural cane. The thought behind this stool was to amalgamate the on-going automized industrial approach with the gratitude towards hand-made skills and craft.
Ciro gets its name from the form at it resembles the Sun. It is primarily made up of wood, and gaining structural strength from the cast aluminium frame, which is woven together with natural cane. Ciro builds a bridge between these two working methodologies, where the hand woven cane part of the seat joins the machine manufactured wooden and metal element. The weaving forms a small percentage of the stool, but plays several significant roles like aesthetics, comfort, holding the seat etc. and encouraging craftsmanship in the right way!
