endlich1 is an avowal of society’s negated need for unproductive exertion. Taking a position on the ongoing sustainability debate, the project examines the relationship between profusion and ecstasy.
Building on George Bataille’s Essay on General Economy, endlich1 aims at creating a “loss value” in articles of daily use. A stool with the focus on singularity was designed, built, tested and staged in the course of this project.
The “pleasurable quality” of loss is depicted in a short film.
Several stools will be unproductively wasted in the course of an exhibition, examining the ecstatic release of energy.
endlich1 is a project by Samuel von Düffel, Ferdinand Pechmann and Benjamin Ditzen.
