The architectonic Gironde Extendible Table, created by Barcelona-based designer and architect Juan Pablo Quintero, emphasizes the purity of geometry and functionality as essential elements of his work.
The table was commissioned by a private client, an engineer, who originally conceived the piece for its newly renovated home, situated on the outskirts of Barcelona.
Robust and proportioned, the table is composed of four triangular pieces that are hidden below the central square board fixed intuitively. The simplicity of the table hides a reasoned, logical and harmonious structural system that guarantees the stability of the moving parts and the whole assembly. The center of the board has embedded a heat resistant ceramic piece to place hot cookware directly from the kitchen to table.
Gironde Extendible Table is a handcrafted piece, whose manufacturing process has been carefully controlled from idea to detail by the designer himself, in his studio in the post industrial district Poblenou, creative heart of Barcelona.
