From the 2th to the 7th December 2013, Hong Kong will be the capital of Asian design with the launch of the eleventh edition of Business of Design Week.
Organized by the Hong Kong Design Centre in partnership with the “Belgian Spirit”, a Belgian initiative created to strengthen creative links and cultural and economic exchanges between professionals from Belgium and Hong Kong in the fields of architecture, design and fashion; this new edition perpetuates the desire to make this week a major design event.
Before the present partnership with Belgium, this event had other leading countries in terms of design and architecture such as the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Japan, Germany and Denmark as partners.
BODW aims to be a platform for sharing ideas and establishing a dialogue between the various stakeholders in the design world. This forum provides the public and creators a unique audience of stakeholders, experts and creators.
To achieve this goal, the organizers have set up many forums, seminars, exhibitions and outreach programs for designers, business leaders, and the public. The disciplines and concepts covered are diverse; ranging from architecture, communications, manufacturing, fashion and new technologies to industrial design.
Belgium will represented by Hubert Verstraeten (jewellery designer), Jean-Pierre Lutgen (CEO of Ice- Watch), Lowie Vermeersch (who led a team of designers at Pininfarina and founded Granstudio), Anne Chapelle (the investor behind Anne Demeulmeester and Haider Ackermann) and many other speakers.
With over 100,000 visitors, 500 medias and more than 30 countries represented last year, this forum has undoubtedly become a flagship event for professionals in the international design community.
Be sure not to miss any speeches by these key figures in Hong Kong, and witness the scale of BODW for yourself. We will be pleased to arrange with you interviews with any of BODW’s present or past speakers.
