No conventional handle… the Igloo Mugs organic form is strong and light, designed to accommodate a variety of handling postures.
The inspiration of igloo mugs comes from a study of handling postures related to mugs. The designer found out that many conventional mugs are hard to hold, especially for people with hand problems. He proposed a challenge to design a mug that beneficial to people with hand problems while appeal to all.
The fluid ceramic form is very tactile, which opens to many possibilities. Hand sculpted prototypes were made to ensure comfort holding postures. There is no “standard” way of using the mug. One person may use the smaller dome as a handle while another person may use it as a drinking port, yet they all make sense. Some handling postures are very helpful for people with shaky hands, low vision or hand condition such as, Cubital tunnel syndrome, Arthritis, Flexor Tendonitis, etc.
