Belgian designer Boomin Sep creates a striking new VOKA ambassador awards trophy.
The annual election of inspiring entrepreneurs, technological innovators and creative thinkers awarded at the Voka Ambassadors awards will accept a brand new trophy designed by Belgian artist Boomin Sep.
Every year Voka, the chamber of commerce of East Flanders wants to draw attention to outstanding entrepreneurship. Highlighting inspiring entrepreneurs with a clear added value for the whole region. Five winning Voka entrepreneurs in five different Belgian regions will walk away with the dashing new trophy.
Boomin Sep was commissioned to create an exclusive cutting edge Trophy that symbolizes this year’s theme, Terra Incognita. “The award is about unknown territory, disruptive businesses were companies reinvent themselves” The designer went on a journey to find a new precious metal. Only to be found in the far far away, Terra Incognita. The precious metal consist out of melted reclaimed aluminium in combination with Himalaya crystals, leaving an unregularly corrosion behind. According to Boomin Sep the trophy design refers to an unknown blending of existing
materials and artistry. Elements who are taken out of its familiar context can lead to innovation.
“We wanted the receiver to make a familiar interpretation of its shape, referring to a gold bar. At the same time it reveals a more abstract material approach making it an interesting object.”
Together with our local smith Robin de Winter we made five individual Trophies, from cast aluminium, personalized with a quality shiny brass label!
