Clemens Preisinger from renowned structural engineering office Bollinger Grohmann in Vienna Bollinger und Grohmann GmbH held a three day Karamba-Workshop within our M-CDC program, focussing on material-optimized structures. Karamba3d is a Rhinoceros- Grasshopper based tool that enables to combine parametric 3d-models with finite element calculation and optimization algorithms.

Task of this workshop was to develop a furniture using the structural optimization functions provided by Karamba3d. The results were realised as lasercutted Cardboard-models.

After the first exciting year of our post-graduate Master program “Computational Design and Construction” at the Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe in Detmold/Germany, we’re approaching the deadline for the application period of our next term, July 31st, 2013.
