Lampione is a family of lights presenting the combination of quality materials made by craftsmen from all walks of life : a glass-blower from Switzerland, a woodturner from the north of France and a steel company from Paris’ suburbs. My work as a designer was to gather together these skills in 3 coherent and poetic lamps.
This work of reflection and patience left me a deep mark that gives these lamp a special story. I try to make objects full of sense and feelings due to the total attention paid to their fabrication.
Their shapes were inspired by different worlds. Street lamps, boat pole, glasshouse. This kind of images that are strong in our collective psyche.
I used a retro filament bulb with different graphic shape for each lamp. It’s like a star imprisoned in a closed universe laying at our feet.
Materials used are : blowned glass, woodturned pear-tree and woodturned ash-tree, black concrete, leather, lacquered steel, no fixation
I am exhibiting them for the first time, along with my new collective Les Cadets, during the Designer’s Days in Paris next week. June friday 7th from 10am to 6pm at 17 rue Cadet 75009 Paris.
