“liberté” meaning “freedom” in French, is a hair salon in Osaka, founded by a young and free spirited owner.
The white organdy that spreads across the salon uses silk from Kawamata Fukushima, an area famous for its silk. It was processed by Isao Negishi of Studio Salt Shrinkage in Kyoto, who specializes in unique silk processing. For this organdy, the processing method was applied in a stripe pattern, making a unique stripe texture of raw and processed silk.
Using Negishi’s uniquely processed silk as interior material opens up a brand new possibility for the silk industry of Fukushima.
