I’ve not submitted content to Mocoloco before, however I wish to introduce to you our Metropolis exhibition at Palazzo della Triennale as part of Milan Design Week.
This is our second collaboration with Francesco Maria Bandini, following on from the successes of The Positive Floor in 2011. According to the ancient Mayan calendar, 2012 marks the end of the world, or the apocalypse. Yet throughout history, civilisations, including the Maya, have risen and fallen many times, with destruction always signalling rebirth.
We have created Metropolis, an exhibition that expresses humankind’s continuous desire for constant regeneration; the everlasting hope for something new and better that will follow any destructive or apocalyptic event. Metropolis contains striking and sustainable products inspired by the themes of an ideological apocalypse and rebirth, based on 2012 trends reflecting the end and regeneration of cities and cultures.
To accompany the exhibition we have also created an interactive animation, to help introduce the meaning behind our new products & trends, the animation can be found here: http://www.interfaceflor.co.uk/web/Products/metropolis
