In construction, stone carver Martin Cook’s mindfulness steel tube is taking shape and even at this early stage the brilliance of the architectural design is clearly evident. As light pours down the highly polished cylinder, the slate stone carved poem reflects back and in the finished version can be observed from a viewing saddle, creating a tranquil space free from the chaos of modern living. Martin’s mindfulness garden (FR6) exhibits at RHS Chelsea Flower Show May 21st to 25th and is sponsored by Stephen Pike at The Marble and Granite Centre. Together the two long term friends hope to promote stone’s versatility as both a building material, and an art form in its own right.
