Naturaleza Muerta vase by Mariana Varela

Ceramic plant pot, hybrid between inanimate object and animal, receives the name of “Dead Nature” because it arises from the study of biological forms and its design represents a fossil; A shell of what thousands of years ago was a living creature: a type of hedgehog that circulated the earth, now extinct.

It is a pot for cacti and succulents, beings that store water to survive and usually have similar shapes to the hedgehog we know today.

With the passage of time, it has lost life and color, for that reason we find it in white, black and pale pink; Colors that allow the piece to show its peaks and shapes discreetly, also permits the plant – which takes the place of the hedgehog in the shell – to be the protagonist, and flaunt all their colors fully.

To return the Dead Nature to the world of the living, you only need a plant.
