This collaborative chair is about working quickly and intuitively through wrapping and lashing with composite materials, in this case fiberglass strips, and creating forms based in part on existing archetypes and objects, or the memory of those objects. The yellow chair is based loosely on the Thonet no.14 chair.

Benjamin Kicic and Jamie Wolfond are recent graduates of RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) and their degree projects had to do with the symbolism of archetypes and materials, and how materials and method of construction informs the objects narrative. Their work has involved looking at representations of the past recreated with modern manufacturing techniques and commenting on the new history they create, as well as re-creating traditional forms in new materials to create a new story.
