Oi wall lamp by Hayoung Kim

This wall lamp ‘O l’ takes inspirations from timeless forms and everyday material such as circle and line, paper and aluminum.

I explore the properties of paper and potential of space by adding paper products.

Paper is familiar and easy to handle to all. The characteristically simple and geometric works of it are created entirely through the manual process of pleating and unfolding.

The small-scale object is made from Tyvek, a special type of paper. The large-scale object is kind of an installation works made of traditional paper in Korea, characterized by its natural and enduring properties.

This lamp allows users to make slight adjustments. Following users rotate one of the handles, not only the amount of light comes large or small, but also the shape paper shade will be adjusted surrounded space and furniture.

The name of ‘OI’ has three of means. First, the wall lamp is only seen circle and line. Second, it means no.1, as it is my first product I design. Last meaning is Swedish exclamation when they are surprised.
