From whimsical takes on pop culture icons to unexpected studies of scientific subjects, I merge my passion for digital illustration and quilling to create high art that is uniquely practical. My work is as comfortable playing within the design of a colorful modern home as it is on a throw pillow on a couch or putting a playful pop on an iPhone case.
My formal training rests in graphic design, but I found that my often obsessive attention to detail lent itself to the craft of quilling -– rolling, shaping, and manipulating strips of paper to create intricate patterns. Because of my strange mixture of enthusiasms, I start every piece on the computer, using Adobe Creative Suite to execute my ideas. Next, I print my digital art and invent coils, loops, and swirls from paper to accentuate my creations. Lastly, I use my top-secret photographic process to create a flat image that still retains all of the delicate dimensionality of my 3D quilling art -– so no dusting is needed!
P.S. Some of my work has been published on other sites but most of it has not.
