Pressure Bench and Pressure Stool by Tim Teven

By experimenting with pressing patterns into aluminium sheet, I found out that it give both visual attraction and great strength to the material.

My goal is to take an industrial technique and take it out of the factory and into my workshop. This way I try to take a role in the industrial manufacturing process and show what design can do with it.

The material experiments resulted in a stool and a bench out of only 2 millimetre thick aluminium. Normally this would be too thin to make seating furniture.

But by pressing in a pattern the material turns stiffer and is able to carry way more weight. the bench and the stool are not only very light weight, but also made with as less material as possible.
