Markus Johansson presents Sapphire at Greenhouse,
Stockholm Furniture Fair
Sapphire offers a mesmerizing pattern that is
both contemplative and playful. The character
of Markus Johansson’s exclusive cabinet is both
tough and brave, and Safir will thrive alone as well
as in company offering a reassuring and original
centerpiece for both home and contract.
Sapphire is in good company with Markus Johansson’s
other inventions: Nest, an armchair inspired
by birds nest, and Cirrata with forms brought up
from the deep abyss of the oceans. The design ha
a clear form with an evident graphic expression.
Safir is inspired by Japanese origami, an old art
of paper folding which creates pattern, forms, as
well as supporting structures.
Sapphire is made out of two mirrored door halves
that can be positioned freely in order to enhance
different kinds of constellations. The cabinet are
CNC-cut in MDF to have an exact fit, each door
takes only 10 min to make. the undercarriage is
made out of birch.
Sapphire will make it first appearance ever in
Greenhouse, at the Stockholm Furniture Fair, 7th
to 11th of February 2012.
