‘Sineddoche, travel forecasts’ is a project about the image of other countries and nationalities that we construct before seeing them. This observation has evolved into three symbolic objects which are meant to be a reflection on stereotypes and expectations before a journey, but also on prejudices that we instinctively have against the Others and toward the unknown. My work is an attempt to highlight ironically the instinctive mental process which often leads us to live in a preconceived way – sometimes even not to live the experience itself – and to filter the encounter with the Other through a collective imagination of images of images.

The resulting objects are a lamp, which represents Germany as a sort of lighthouse that leads but also controls the other european countries; a vase, Spain, that always needs new economic resources and has an unstable equilibrium; an arabic grandfather clock, which shows the attempt of Turkey to reach European rhythm and habits.
