This table / floor lamp is designed through a collaboration of a couple who are both active in the creative/design field in the Philippines, and Internationally. Gabie Osorio and Leo Saño, both graduated from the University of the Philippines, College of Fine Arts, consither this piece as their first hands-on product design collaboration. The basic idea of a bird anticipating her hatchlings revolves around the irony of utilizing light bulbs as eggs themselves. The shade is composed of a unique weave that Leo Saño developed for his previous furniture designs, creating a nest-like texture and appearance. It is made of durable recycled synthetic material, also used for outdoor furniture. The silhouette outline of the bird is exposed when the lamp is lit, revealing it from its concealed setting amongst the nest-like materials. The simple design elements and concept of silhouette, texture, and material manipulation are utilized in this piece.
