NEW VACUUM HOSE AND COFFEE TRAMP TABLES
Introducing Bertram Whitford’s new bespoke coffee tables; designed and created individually by the maker in a range of colours and materials.
The first of the Vacuum Hose coffee tables came about from a discarded vacuum cleaner; the hose was taken as a starting point of the design. The alluringly shaped plywood legs and vibrant colours are an innovative use of a more sustainable wood source without compromising on design. Each table has an acid-etched zinc plaque embedded in the underside, which is signed and dated by Bertram.
The Coffee Tamp also resulted from a foray into a skip: a discarded exercise trampoline from a circus. The challenge was to give it a new lease of life as a coffee table, to refashion an object that used to generate motion into one that imparted relative steadiness. Also with signed and dated zinc plaque.
