Merkelbach photos now on wallpaper
The portrait photos from the Merkelbach archives are now available on wallpaper!
The wallpaper collection will be on show 27-29 september during ELLE Inside Design at WeAreVoidGallery, Ferdinand Bolstraat 1, Amsterdam.
Friends and press are welcome at the opening event on September 27 from 17-22 hours.

VANITAS: Wallpaper that keeps catching your eye.

Designer Emma Gavaldon van Leeuwen Boomkamp created her wallpaper collection VANITAS with old portrait photos from the archives of Merkelbach- the famous photo studio in Amsterdam, which opened its doors one hundred years ago.
The VANITAS collection provides us with an enchanting look into the past. With the beautiful images from times gone by of adorable children, charming ladies and seductive gentlemen this wallpaper keeps fascinating.

The pattern does not repeat anywhere, since every single photo is different. For the designs up to 460 unique photos per roll of wallpaper were used.
Material: Non-woven wallpaper – easy application, water washable, fast removal.
Size: 9 meter x 48.7 centimeter.

Information about Emma Gavaldon van Leeuwen Boomkamp

Emma Gavaldon van Leeuwen Boomkamp (1989) daughter of a Dutch mother and a Mexican father, grew up in the Netherlands. She studied Product Design and this year she will receive her bachelor degree in Business Studies from the University of Amsterdam. During her summer vacations Emma has followed workshops with Sigga Heimis and Jaime Hayon at Boisbuchet, France.
April 2013, she presented her collection ‘Odd Wallpaper’ at the Salone di Mobile in Milan at Ventura Lambrate, together with the designer collective T.I.V.D.
While in Mexico during the summer of 2013, Emma, in collaboration with Valeria Moiseeva, created the collection “Veni Vidi Vidrio’, objects of recycled hand-blown glass. These will be presented in October by Galeria Mexicana de Diseño in Mexico City.
