We’re very pleased to announce our new book, Architecture Follows Nature: Biomimetic Principles for Innovative Design.
From our editor, Yoseph Bar-Cohen:
Architecture Follows Nature, by Ilaria Mazzoleni (im studio mi/la, Southern California Institute of Architecture), seeks to instill a shift in thinking about the application of biological principles to design and architecture and focuses on the analysis of how organisms have adapted to different environments and then translates the learned principles into the built environment. She draws inspiration from the diversity of animal coverings, i.e., the skin, and applies them in 12 case studies to the design of building envelopes.
