These minimalist, modern birdhouses, first presented at the 2011 ICFF, were designed for wrens, finches, chickadees and other small birds. The placement of openings, internal mesh ladders and other details carefully cater to the behaviors and needs of the birds. Vents are incorporated in the design of the exterior facade to keep the birds cool during the hot summer months.
The absence of perches outside provide protection from larger predatory birds and squirrels. The designs can be displayed in courtyards, mounted on pole platforms, or as sculptural pieces for the home.
Birdhouses 1 and 2 are each made locally in New York City in a naturally aging cedar wood.
