Jurrijn Huffenreuter is a recent design graduate living in Haarlem the Netherlands. After graduating he started his own design studio Jurrijn Design mainly focussing on ceramics. His project BLOCKS: Open Craft was also published first on MocoLoco. BLOCKS elements is a result of that project.
BLOCKS elements are ceramic modular pieces designed for Weidesign by Jurrijn Huffenreuter. By combining the objects you can built a miniature city for the home environment. Every product can be used seperatly and can be arranged to a desk organiser or a vase. When put together the elements form a city landscape. The series consists out of nine elements in four different sizes: three, four, five or six blocks.
Every element is produced seperatly in a modular mold. Block by block the designer constructs a mold. For this reason he can produce an infinite amount of products with different functions. In every product the lines of the mold remain visible, showing the construction of the mold in the end product.
BLOCKS enables the end user to create an object in the same way the designer creates his mold. By stacking and combining the elements the user can create a large amount of compositions.
