These furniture pieces are inspired by my longtime interest in Platonic forms and are designed to function as stools, side tables, and ottomans. I’m interested in creating compelling furniture that floats between sculpture and everyday functional enjoyment.
I originally created these pieces as manufacturing samples. When I begin a design, I try to stay away from the computer as much as possible. I start with a sketch, and then move to a full scale paper model. After this, I construct a finished sample and learn a lot about potential manufacturing issues this way. Because I enjoy the flexibility of designing unique forms, I’ve decided to offer them as custom to the trade pieces. I work in a lakeside studio in North Texas and will be producing these custom pieces in any fabric or finish.
The pieces pictured are upholstered with hand-loomed ikat silk and cotton fabrics and finished with tinted wax.
