Hello MoCo Loco,

My name is David Rinman and I’m a 23 year old graphic designer and musician based in Stockholm, Sweden.

I’m writing to let you know about my project “Cutting Records”. It’s a sculpture created as a celebration of music and vinyl records, taking a playful twist on the expression.

The project was exhibited earlier this year during Vårsalongen 2014 at the renowned art gallery Liljevalchs Konsthall in Stockholm.

Music is often the theme of my work and I have a special relationship to old vinyl records.
A lot of the music I create is sample based; I enjoy re-contextualising sounds taken from loads of records and shaping them into new compositions.
Because of this I’m constantly surround by vinyl. This time I wanted to use them in a new way.
Instead of seeing records as tools for making music I wanted to use them as the basis for visual work.

You have previously featured another one of my music themed projects called “Beat Match” (check out www.vimeo.com/davidrinman/beat-match).

I’ve attached four images of Cutting Records. If you would like to see more of my work you can check out www.davidrinman.com

I hope you like my stuff. Keep up the awesome work with the blog!

Cheers! /David
