“Trap” is a sculptural floor lamp made from different sizes of brass tubes, and a marble base. Each tube ends with hand blown glass bulb. The different heights of the brass tubes create a playful light installation.
“Droop” is a simple table lamp that reflects a fusion between different materials to create a minimalist design. A combination of hand blown glass bulb, with a brass base, merged and blended with a geometrical marble block to create one nostalgic element.
This beautiful contrast between the main elements creates a strong hybrid design.
These projects has been selected this year by Starch Foundation to be exhibited at their boutique through this year.
About SAYAR&GARIBEH :
Sayar (Stephanie) and Garibeh (Charbel) are a young design duo. The two designers met in their first college year, and got into the design world ever since. They recently opened their small workshop in Beirut and they have been selected by Starch Foundation as product designers to exhibit their work through this year. They have attended multiple international exhibitions in Beirut, Milan, Paris, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The aim of the studio is to create simple yet experimental designs, with a dash of humor, using new materials and forms. They work together as a team where each one has his/her own touch and thoughts combined together to create unique pieces. It sounds like the most chaotic and complicated thing, when two people are involved, but they call it FREEDOM.
THE OF STARCH:
Founded by Rabih Kayrouz, Tala Hajjar and in collaboration with Solidere, STARCH is a non-profit organization that helps launch Lebanese emerging designers. STARCH is an annual program and a rotation of debut collections where emerging designers and an architect are selected each year. The designers are guided through the process of developing their collections, as well as promoting them (communication, marketing, branding and press). These collections are then presented for a period of one year at the STARCH boutique. Throughout their one-year at STARCH, the designers also get the chance to participate in design related workshops, seminars and collaborations.
