MEJD studio has designed collection of 4 luminaires based on optic fibre technology for Slovak company FOSALI. These light objects were presented at Light+Building 2016 in Frankfurt.
It takes 365 days exactly for the Earth to orbit the sun and 365nm is also the wavelength of the UV light used in this piece. The object has been made from the specially made glass which reacts to UV light and which gives it its great purple colour. Having integrated LEDs for the functional lighting and light rods for decoration we have mastered this luminaire to its last detail. This is where design meets functionality.
This sole [single] lamp can be used as a decorative lighting on the wall paintings or become a reading light. The shape is not only seductive but it also allows great functionality by which it is possible to position the light in the required angle. The light comes in a sexy black coating, funky red colour, grey or in a pure white. Or we keep you in the LOOP.
Eight single segments make up the shape of this luminaire. Made from light rods, stopped with the glass tubes and finished with a speciality glass optic. Thanks to this we have been able to produce as much light as possible out of this design centrepiece whilst focusing on its desirability.
The name of this unique luminaire is represented by the very natural way which the light finds its way through the optic fibres in the seemingly closed circulation. The shape of the fibres are determined by the individual groupings of stainless steel pipes which make the light disappear and then appear again on the other side. Simply FLOW.
