Living with friends
The dynamic of states like falling, floating or swinging is just hardly applied onto a static body. But if we think about dancing or acrobatics it becomes clear that the most dynamic and exciting figures are based on the interaction of several individuals. To support and hold each other and therefore to counteract external forces ones could not bear alone – This is the essence of team- work and the fundamental quality of friendship and has been the inspiration in form, construc- tion and name to designer Mark Bendow ?s sideboard „friends“.
The single, one-leged pieces of the ensemble couldn ?t stand by themselves. Leaning on each other they find stability as an ensemble without losing their individual dynamic character.
By the interaction of simplicity in color and form, dynamic of shape and the citation of an emo- tional idea, designer Mark Bendow reflects contemporary trends and simply reduces them to a common denominator.
The five trapezoidal segments „friends“ is composed of, offer a lot of space and all the functions of any well planed sideboard. Books, magazines or the like lean against the sloped sides of the blowers. Smaller items like CDs, gadgets, accessories or similar can disappear in the drawers. The topography of the surface area is designed to take objects without difficulties. Books can be presented open in the „valley“ of the surface and decoration elements like vases find their place on the horizontal segment.
Located in Berlin, designer Mark Bendow works since years in the fields of furniture design, interior design and brand architecture. „friends“ was developed in collaboration with designer Albertine Baronius and Fine Bo?hm. Both will be a part of his team to support and work with him in future projects.
