Screwed is a series of three side and coffee tables made from solid oak and solid
Both the legs and the table top have an identical thread. This allows the two materials
to be linked by simply turning the legs into the hardwood plate.
The pieces can easily be taken apart. Swapping them allows different combinations in
height and width.
The complexity of the tables hidden connection is belied by the simplicity of their
shapes and archetypical character.
The project is based on a ‘wood thread’, an traditional wood connection technique
used for furniture and a hand tool to cut those wood threads fairly quick and simple.
Its exploring a new connection by merging this technique with the highly technical art
of metal thread cutting and the possibilities of precise CNC-machining.
