Step into the dimly lit old folk house, and in one corner you will spot glowing flora on display. The almost transparent leaves and stems are part of the flora gathered through combined efforts together with local islanders in Japan. The gathered plants were then placed between sheet glasses and fired in a kiln to retain the same shape and essence as the original plants, only in the form of white ash. I started the project to collect and preserve the original flora as part of my effort to connect myself to the spirit of local. The moisture contained within the original plants remain as air bubbles trapped between the sheet glasses.
