Urban survival kit is the starting point for an experimentation about alternative methods of conservation, reuse and cooking of food. The kit consists of two instruments: a dryer and a smoker.
Eolo, the dryer, use a natural drying process through the combination of wind, warmth and silica gel. The shape is designed to wick sweat away, to allow a flexible placement and to protect the food from insects or other animals. Eolo can be hung thanks to a ring on the top of the product, rather than be placed in a worm place (sun, radiator).
Efesto, the smoker, can preserve food by exposing it to the smoke from burning or smoldering plant materials. It consists of two levels, the first, which forms the base, it is where happen a controlled combustion; the second level, enables the placement of the food to be smoked. The cover is characterized by a small cone which acts as a vent to manage the circulation of the fumes.
The materials used are ceramic and wood to carry on the idea of a possible natural lifestyle.
The project applies the values of our time: sustainability, not only with natural materials, but also long-lasting objects, simplicity of forms and uses, without moralizing self-punishing, but with an injection of domestic warmth and attention to detail.
